(2) Citation
Newbold, John J. "Lifestyle Challenges For Commuter Students." New Directions For Student Services 2015.150 (2015): 79-86. Academic Search Premier. Web. 11 Oct. 2016.

(3) Summary
This article discusses the stress that commuting causes to students when compared to those that live on campus. I also mentions the different ways in which different students cope with the stress and with the decision of commuting and still be able to fulfill their other responsibilities.  Lastly, it shows that students who commute have different perspectives than those who commute when faced with the same issue because their enviroment influences their thinking and their mindset.

(4) Author
Dr. John J. Newbold, a marketing professor at Sam Houston University in Tennessee. He also wrote, Commuter Students: Involvement and Identification with an institution of higher education.

(5) Key terms

Stressor: an activity, situation, person, etc. that may cause emotional anxiety or stress on an individual. Stressors could be family, friends, work, or/and adapting to the commuter lifestyle.

interrelationship: factors in a commuter’s life that connect with each another at multiple times. The stress  in a commuter’s life are interrelated therefore time management is needed in order to fulfill all responsibilities. However, time management is not a skill that every commuter might have.

(6) Quotes

“Academic stresses for commuter students include being capable of coping at a higher education level, time management, and study skills with additional concerns centered on coping with existing responsibilities and with the added study tasks (Barron & D’Annunzio-Green, 2009).” Page 81

“Students who look positively on the openness of administration tend to be more satisfied with the campus environment (Nicolson & Bess, 1997). Commuter students have stronger relationships with administrators and place a greater value on faculty interaction than their non-commuting equivalents (Newbold et al., 2010).” Page 84

(7) Value
This article is important for my research paper because it explores the effects that commuting causes on students. It also mentions the differences between living on campus and commuting which helps to compare and contrast the pros and cons. It is very important to know both sides of the student and trying to understand why some students are able to take a decision while others have no choice but to commute while working and having more responsibilities.
